Use either face of this hammer to harden and flatten wire (please tap gently on Artistic Wire). The flat face is larger than our other chasing hammer - 1-1/4" inch in diameter. We love the slightly rounded and larger face of this hammer, since it facilitates the hammering of an entire wire design in one hit. The semi-rounded face helps to flatten the design, but not mark it, avoiding a "hammered" finish. Use of the "peen" side of the hammer will result in riveting of the wire, providing a "hammered" finish. The forged head of the hammer is wedge-mounted onto the hardwood handle.
